Can I donate frequent flyer points to Backpack Bed for Homeless?
Yes. Backpack Bed for Homeless gratefully accepts donations of frequent flyer points.
As a national charity partnering with over 1,100 homeless agencies across Australia, we use donated points to cover charity travel expenses. This helps reduce operational costs so more funds can go directly toward providing Backpack Beds and Fire Retardant Polar Fleece Sleeping Bags to people without shelter.
How it works
The process varies slightly depending on your airline, but generally there are two options:
1. Donate a flight voucher
Some airlines allow you to redeem points for a travel voucher that can be provided to the charity.
2. Book a flight using your points
You can book a flight directly for a nominated charity staff member using your points (most airlines allow this).
Once the flight or voucher is arranged, we can issue a tax-deductible receipt for the value of the donated flight. The dollar value can be determined from the airline’s website at the time of booking.
