Can we add our company or organisation’s branding to Backpack Beds?
Backpack Bed for Homeless generally discourages adding branding to Backpack Beds distributed to people experiencing homelessness.
There are several important reasons for this:
1. Product Integrity
Additions such as embroidery or stitching puncture the waterproof fabric, which can compromise the product’s weatherproof performance and durability.
2. Dignity and Privacy
Dignity is central to the Backpack Bed design. People sleeping on the streets often wish to blend in and not draw attention to their circumstances. Prominent branding may discourage someone from accepting or using the Backpack Bed.
3. Avoiding Identification as Homeless
Our social enterprise retail Backpack Bed and our charity-distributed Backpack Bed look the same. This means it is not possible to identify someone as homeless simply because they are carrying one.
Adding custom branding could unintentionally “label” someone as homeless.
Alternative Recognition Options
We are happy to recognise corporate, school, club, or community supporters in other ways — including media stories, social media acknowledgement, or through programs such as GoodNight Australia.
We are always open to discussing options that ensure the best possible outcome for people experiencing homelessness while appropriately acknowledging supporters.
