I don’t want my donation used for administration expenses. How are funds used?
Backpack Bed for Homeless is a national charity partnering with over 1,100 homeless agencies across Australia to distribute Backpack Beds and Fire Retardant Sleeping Bags to people without shelter. We are not government funded and rely on donations.
We operate with minimal overheads and are:
-
A registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC)
-
Overseen by an independent, unpaid Board
-
Audited annually by an ASIC-registered auditor
Donated funds are used to support the full delivery of our program, including:
-
Manufacturing Backpack Beds and Sleeping Bags
-
Shipping and distribution
-
Insurance
-
Utilities and operational costs
-
A small national team (4 staff across Australia)
Like all charities, certain operational expenses are necessary to ensure compliance, safety, logistics, and effective nationwide distribution.
We are committed to transparency and responsible stewardship of every donation.
